Family practice training requires three or more years in specialized residency training after medical school. To become certified by the American Board of Family Practice, a family practitioner is required to take a lengthy and detailed national examination. PHYSICIANS

Gary L. Conell, MD GARY L. CONELL, MD
Dr. Gary Conell is originally from Waco, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and was accepted into the University of Nebraska School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln and moved to North Platte to begin his career. He established his family practice in 1972. In 1995, Dr. Conell formed Midlands Family Medicine with Dr. Brittan. Dr. Conell is also the Program Director of the University of Nebraska Rural Family Practice Residency Training program in North Platte.
Dr Conell and his wife, Twila, have three children and three grandchildren. He enjoys fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Dr. Jeffrey C. Brittan, MD

JEFFREY C. BRITTAN, MD
Dr. Brittan spent his formative years in Alliance, Nebraska. He attended Creighton University as an undergraduate and was accepted into Creighton School of Medicine. After completing his family practice residency at Creighton Medical School, he accepted a full-time teaching faculty position at Creighton School of Medicine. In 1986, he decided to establish a private practice in North Platte joining Dr. Dwight Larson. In 1995, he and Dr. Conell formed Midlands Family Medicine.
Dr. Brittan and his wife, Connie, have four children. He is an active Boy/Cub Scout leader and is a board member of the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Trust. He enjoys snow skiing, camping, hiking, art, and creating stained glass windows.

Dr. Douglas States, MD

DOUGLAS J. STATES, MD
Dr. Douglas States grew up in North Platte, Nebraska. He earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and then attended the University of Nebraska Medical School. He completed his residency at Clarkson Family Medicine in Omaha in 1995 and joined Midlands Family Medicine in 1995. Dr. States and his wife, Kayla, have four children. He is quite involved with family activities, including, coaching and refereeing his children's basketball. soccer, and baseball teams. In his spare time, he loves to fish and golf. He is also the founder and president of Computer Parent; a family organization software company.

Dr. Bryan D. Nokelby, MD
BRYAN D. NOKELBY, MD
Dr. Bryan Nokelby grew up in Stayton, Oregon and he attended Williamette University in Oregon where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. He also played varsity baseball for four years. Dr. Nokelby received his medical degree from Creighton University in Nebraska and completed his residency at the Family Practice Residency of Idaho. He also completed a sports medicine fellowship through the Idaho Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Nokelby joined Midlands Family Medicine in 1998.
Dr. Nokelby and his wife, Christi, have two boys. He enjoys playing sports including baseball and basketball. He also enjoys hiking, camping and hunting & fishing.
Jason M. Citta, MD JASON M. CITTA, MD
Dr. Jason Citta is originally form Columbus, Nebraska. He received his undergraduate degree from Chadron State College in 1996, majoring in Health Sciences. Dr. Citta graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1999, and completed his three year family practice residency at UNMC's Family Medicine in Omaha. After completing his residency, Dr. Citta entered a one year Rural Medicine Fellowship to acquire further rural medicine training, including emphasis in the areas of neonatal intensive care, adult intensive care, high risk obstetrical care, and gastroenterology procedures. He completed this fellowship in July of 2002 and joined Midlands Family Medicine at that time. Dr. Citta enjoys fishing, hunting, boating, and camping

ANGELA M. PRUDEN, MD
Dr. Angela Pruden, M.D. is from Norfolk, Nebraska. She received her undergraduate degree from Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska in 1999 with a B.S. in Chemistry/Health Science. She attended Medical School at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and graduated in 2002. Dr. Pruden's husband is a high school teacher and her hobbies include reading, quilting, crocheting and horses.

PHYSICIANS ASSISTANT

Dave L. Arthur, PA DAVID L. ARTHUR, PA
Dave Arthur graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1975 in the first class of Physician Assistants. He has been practicing medicine with Dr. Conell since 1975.
Dave & Mary Arthur have three children. He enjoys raising and showing Lovebirds and is a judge for national bird shows. He has been actively involved with Scouting and currently participates with the St. Patrick's High School Activities Association.

NURSE PRACTITIONER

Mary E. Dailey, APRN MARY E. DAILEY, APRN
Mary Dailey graduated from Creighton University Cum Laude where she received a master's degree in Nursing. Mary is an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner.) She also earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Kansas in 1985. Mary received the Nebraska Nurses Association research award in 1997. In 1996 she was presented the Creighton University graduate school research award.
Mary has been with Midlands Family Medicine since 1996. She continues to volunteer her time providing care for the homeless at the Lincoln Connection on a weekly basis. The North Platte Business and Professional Women's Association named Mary Dailey Woman of the Year for Lincoln County in 1999 and 2000.

PERSONAL TRAINER

Brenda Barron, RN, PT BRENDA BARRON, RN, CFTII
Brenda Barron is certified as a personal trainer through the International Sports Science Association. She is also a registered nurse and has thirteen years of nursing experience in addition to two years experience as a physical therapy aide. Currently, Brenda is the HIPAA Privacy Officer at Midlands Family Medicine.
Brenda and her husband, Cosme, have two children. She enjoys spending time with her family, instructing exercise classes and spending time at the gym for herself. Brenda is active with Saint Patrick's McDaid Elementary School PTO and is currently a member of Saint Patrick's Parish Council.
