Our goal at Midlands Family Medicine is to provide you with the best care possible for you and for your baby during your pregnancy and delivery. When you chose Midlands Family Medicine for your obstetrical care you have a high rate of assurance that the doctor who knows and understands you, and who has worked closely with you throughout your pregnancy, will be there with you at the time of your delivery. You will be able to see the doctor with whom you are most comfortable. We will not bounce you from doctor to doctor throughout your pregnancy and your delivery. This should give you and your doctor a high comfort level with each other and should help to provide continuity of your care, trust, confidence, and peace of mind.

While the obstetrical care provided is individualized to meet each patients needs and concerns, there are some basic similarities among all cases. When you first believe that you may be pregnant, you should stop taking medications (ask your doctor if you have any questions) and start taking a folic acid supplement. If you are on prescription medications, you should contact your doctor or your doctor's nurse immediately to see if those medications could harm the baby. Please do not drink alcoholic beverages or smoke during your pregnancy. These substances can have a great impact on the health of your child. We will need to perform a pregnancy test in our office to confirm the pregnancy. You do not need an appointment for this, just let the front desk know what you are here for. A nurse will administer the test and give you the results as soon as possible. If you are pregnant, she will provide you with a prescription for pre-natal vitamins and some literature. We will schedule you for some routine lab work, and then schedule you for an obstetrical physical. Generally during your pregnancy, we will need to see you every four weeks to check on your progress and that of the baby's. If at any time during your pregnancy you feel that something may be happening that is a threat to the health of your baby or yourself, please contact us immediately! After about the 28th week you will start being seen more frequently, every 2 3 weeks, until the 38th week, after which you will be seen weekly until delivery. During your second trimester, you will have an opportunity to have an ultrasound done at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. Additional lab work will be done during the course of your pregnancy to ensure that you and the baby are maintaining good health. In addition to the personalized care we provide to you during your pregnancy, we can perform the following women's care exams for you as needed: pap smears, colposcopy, cryotherapy, and dilation and curettage. Additionally, we perform invitro fertilization. For those patients wishing to never become pregnant we can perform bilateral tubal ligation. OBSTETRICAL CARE SCHEDULE
